Blogapalooza-Facebook-Cover-page

Blogging makes me look forward on my "free time" and it makes freelancing more bearable - for someone who hasn't tried corporate world yet. This also allows me to write about the things I love and the memories I would like to share to my future generation, and maybe read back with coffee on my hands and happy wrinkles on my face. hehe

Whatever your reason for blogging is, join the Blogapalooza this year since this helped me reached out and expand my network with companies and co-bloggers in the city. I'm excited to try new products and services and share my new found love, chitchat with others of my same interest too and who knows, I might be one of the lucky few to take home prizes, just like here.

Registration is still open so sign-up here!

Thank you very much WhenInManila and Blogapalooza for this event and see you guys soon on September 20 at SM Convention Center 1 & 2 of SM Aura!

Staycation at Somerset Olympia

We are patriots of IHG hotels, Crowne Plaza Ortigas, Holidae Inn and Intercontinental Hotel are some of our most booked hotels, but to make a difference, this time we booked a one bedroom suite at Somerset Olympia under Ascotts hotels.
The split level 1 bedroom suite room a85 impressed me because -
DSC00532
the stairs add a homey-feel to the place (so if you want an extra spacious unit, ask for the split type) - two flat cable tv with complete sound system, one on the living room and one on the bedroom
DSC00520
- two split type air condition units located at the living room and bedroom
DSC00528
- the cushioned dining chair is very comfortable, not to mention, add a luxurious feel to the dining room
- the kitchen has complete dining utensils for 4 pax - microwave for me is the kitchen superstar, hot take out gone cold is a breeze - induction cooker impressed our cook so much, we had a hot pot for nye - even the liquid dish washing soap and the sponge is a very smart addition to the kitchen, it’s a life saver!
DSC00529

- the “squeeze-bottles” for the bathroom’s hand wash soap and shower soap is a smart way to be eco-friendly and be cost-efficient at the same time, two thumbs up!

DSC00534
the tub is luring me to soak in its hot waters and finally give in to a long soothing bath.. ahh..
DSC00535
 spacious! ^^
- the security guards are very polite and friendly - free wifi access Our unit has a privilege of breakfast for two for two consecutive days - CAVA manager and the staff are friendly especially the cook making waffles and omelets - the buffet is vegetarian friendly - food is warm and has a wide range of selection The hotel is under renovation, hence the lobby is curtained white and some of the exterior has a couple of protruding scaffoldings but relatively safe for the guests.

Amused by the elevator

His pose reminds me of Pocoyo - curiosity at its best.
The amenities include free usage of the gym (treadmills, bike-on-place and some weights),

Two big grey balloons! - JC
outside swimming pool (open for guests and visitors).

small but space efficient

that beam though...
Like the saying “there’s always room for improvement” below are some of my observation that the management might look up and do something about - the call center agent of Ascott is very rude and unfriendly while the one for somerset olympia is very friendly - Old Swiss Inn staff are very rude. They stare at your plate! (FYI, there are two restaurants inside Somerset Olympia one located on the ground floor (CAVA)

and a stairs higher (Old Swiss Inn)

-please have a monthly one night stay giveaway on your facebook page, or at least be more active on fb and twitter, I’d rather inquire in there because -i hate calling your landline, the Ascot call center agent is very rude and unfriendly - the website badly needs an upgrade, i'm not happy about it, hard to scroll, too much clutter this is my first time to stay on Somerset Olympia and based on my previous stays on other hotels nationwide, here are some of my comments - allow early check in (8am, if not previously used, not peak season – yes, we fortunately had the chance to check in as early as 8!) and hope you could make late check out at 4pm like we used to do on IHG hotels - allow room upgrade when not peak season (that'll surely make us come back again) - a suite room should have more than just 2 small bottles of water for a compliment, a hotel in Baguio offer cookies and other pastries aside from water on their STANDARD rooms. That or fresh flowers on a vase or season fruits would be a nice touch on the dining table too - No hotel watermarked pads, postcard, envelopes and pens/pencils on the study desk, it feels incomplete -the housekeeping wont answer the phone sometimes especially on the wee hours of the night, the service should be open for 24 hours, right? -hope you'll have bathrobes instead of towels -pool needs a lifeguard – you’ll never know - and the shower room needs a utility person, the plant on the pools canopy needs a gardener too -freewifi access on suites should be available for the entire number of days that the customer will stay, not just for the first day unless its more than a week’s stay -please have a monthly giveaway on your social pages, or at least be more active on fb and twitter, id rather inquire in there because I hate calling your landline, the Ascot call center agent is very rude and unfriendly, cheap talking and she sounds bored (Did I mention that before? I guess it needs a stress) - the website badly needs an upgrade, im not happy about it, hard to scroll, too much clutter -guards are friendly (that needs an emphasis too) -connecting rooms would be a plus, it’ll make our stay more home-y - a bakeshop inside the hotel with a 50% off on 7pm would make our stay extra extra special besides it will make us believe the pastries are freshly baked every day. No stale bread, happy customers. Win-win!
DSC00598
What a post! It’s lengthy, wordy and full of angst or let say positive criticism. We would definitely stay here again! Where are you planning to go on your next staycation?
P.S. - more hotel staycation posts soon! <3

Eat, Train, Sleep, and Drink Up: The Real Secrets of Fitness Success

When it comes to fitness, we always thirst for more, especially in the current health-conscious culture. Where we once were satisfied with quick fix diets, we now thirst for different health regimens, workouts, and fitness routines. However, no matter how many times we switch from one workout to another, we only want one thing at the end of the day and that’s to see the results of all of our hard work.
Believe it or not, many fitness enthusiasts still do not see the results they work so hard for. From the last five pounds to lose to the extra weights to lift, some fitness buffs still don’t see much progress. The truth is, there are many aspects to getting the body we desire, and our workout is just one part of it. Our activities comprise only ¼ of the regimen we need to get the results we want. Read on for tips on finally achieving the body of your dreams.[1]
Eat. When we want to lose weight, the first thing we cut off is food. Not only is this unhealthy, but it also gets in the way of achieving our fitness goals by messing up with our metabolism. Our body needs fuel to work its best. And not just any fuel, we need ‘good’ fuel to function properly. Choose real food based not only on their calorie count, but more for their nutritional value.
Train. It goes without saying that a good fitness regimen will help you lose unwanted pounds. It’s fun to discover a routine that works just for you. It helps when you switch up your workout regimens in order to avoid boredom and plateauing. The more you move, the more you lose, so get on your way.
Sleep. Recovery is an important part of any routine. Exercise is a stressor on the body, and it’s important to recover to achieve the core benefits of any workout. Results are more visible when we’re rested. Recovery is not limited to sleep; it can include a light Yoga or Pilates class, and even stretching. Don’t overtire yourself and learn to recover and rest.

Drink Up. One of the best-kept secrets of fitness enthusiasts is hydration. When the body is properly hydrated, all our functions work properly, thus maximizing each and every workout. This also keeps us fueled all day long, ready for just about any workout.
Gym buffs and the country’s premiere athletes have long trusted Summit Natural Drinking Water as their fitness partner of choice. Encouraging them to always thirst for more, Summit even makes it easier to keep track of one’s water intake through their 2 Liter easy to carry bottle unique to Summit. With this four-step process, and Summit, reaching your fitness goals has never been this easy.

Stay Stylish and Comfortable in the Rain with Crocs

Staying chic and fabulous during the rainy season can be a challenge, but not impossible to overcome. Dressing up doesn't have to be a drag on dark days; in fact, with just a few tips and tricks, you can still strut your stuff and look marvelous even on the gloomiest days.
Brighten it up[1]Your outfits, by no means, should match the gloomy weather outside. Invest in pieces that perk up any dark day and you will instantly feel confident and fabulous. Wearing something bright also makes everyone around you perk up as well.
Keep a stylish umbrella with you always[2]Gone are the days when carrying around an umbrella felt like fashion suicide. Today, with so many cute designs to choose from, umbrellas can actually be a great complement to your outfit.
Layer it. It’s no secret that the weather can quickly change at this time of the year and layering your clothes make for maximum versatility. A stylish scarf can keep you warm and can even protect you from a sudden downpour. Wearing tights is also a good idea, especially if you’re wearing a dress, and can easily be removed if the weather gets too hot. Investing in a good coat that is both stylish and weather resistant is also a good idea; it’s best to avoid leather and suede when looking for a coat.
Invest in good footwear. Choose shoes that can withstand the rain: one that is durable and can be worn even during floods. Don’t let the rain dampen your shoe game and choose from the many designs by the world’s favorite comfort shoe brand, Crocs.
Its recent line proves that it is possible to have a fusion of style and comfort. The release of two designs, the Beach Line Clog and the Beach Line Boat Slip On from the much-loved Beach Line Collection are reminiscent of summer, and are just in time for the rainy weather. Meanwhile, the new color releases of the immensely popular Huaraches for women and girls will surely add a pop of color to any outfit.
Crocs not only protects you from the rain and the flood but also keeps you looking fabulous, whatever the weather.

Beating office stress with coconut water

Too much work can cause stress and major health problems including heart disease, depression, headaches, diabetes, and obesity.
Unfortunately, we exacerbate the issue because we tend to eat unhealthy food during stressful moments at work. Unhealthy snacks are always the top of mind choice because they are always within reach and provide immediate comfort due to the high salt or sugar content. Although they are convenient, eating these types of food can cause more stress than relief in the long run.
The high sodium content with junk and fast food is your ultimate enemy. Although they may seem nutrient packed, the high sodium content hinders your body from absorbing these nutrients. So what to do? If not junk and fast food, what do you do to keep yourself awake, alive, and sane during crunch time?
Tropicana Coco Quench Image (330 ml reg)
Start your day at the office with coconut water. It’s a smart tactic to keep you cool and collected. Without proper hydration, you'll get hungry and flustered. Coconut water is a natural elixir, with simple carbohydrates and electrolytes, with less natural sugar compared to other drinks. Also, it contains no fat and is low in calories, and the taste is refreshing.
With Tetra Pak’s six-layer packaging technology, you can now store your healthy dose of anti-stress coconut water in the office. Best served chilled and with officemates. Tropicana Coco Quench is available in 1L and 330-ml ready–to-drink pack.

The Attack of Bacteria: What You Need To Know About The Enemy

Good oral hygiene begins and ends with bacteria. Start with a healthy environment for good bacteria to grow, and maintain this regimen by preventing bad bacteria from accumulating and causing plaque, cavities, and bad breath.

Win the fight against the bacteria in your mouth with oral care habits, starting with the food you eat. Avoid sugary and starchy food, consume more vegetables, and drink your eight glasses of water a day. After eating, always brushing your teeth, use oral care products with anti-bacterial features, and clean your tongue with scrapers or your tooth brush. By knowing the enemy of good oral hygiene, you can easily win the fight against it.
