#1 Amazon Bestselling Author Publishes New Children’s Book, MOMMY LOVES YOU JUST THE SAME

#1 Amazon bestselling Author and Inspirational Speaker Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag launched her first children’s book Mommy Loves You Just the Same last May 19, 2016. The author’s two older children inspired her to write the book while she was pregnant with her third child. It tells the heartwarming story of how an expectant mother assured her son of her unchanging love — during her pregnancy and after she gave birth to her new baby. It also shows how this mother’s assuring love inspired and enabled the little boy to become a loving and responsible big brother.

“As a mom of three kids, I love how this book reassures the older kids that we love them just as much as before as well as helping to foster and nurture love for their new sibling. Children can be quite anxious about the arrival of a new baby and this book does well to put those insecurities to rest,” says Author of Project Mom, Celebrity and Blogger Amanda Griffin-Jacob.
“A definite must-have for any family who is about to add a new member to the family,” adds Jacob.

“Mommy Loves You Just the Same is a pleasure to read with its melodious text and clean illustrations. The story is sweet and relatable: it will be a great source of comfort for the new older brother or sister who might feel a bit threatened by the newest member of the family,” says Mariel Uyquiengco, a homeschooling mom of three, editor and speaker at the Learning Basket, a U.S. licensed Kindermusik educator and a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.

Martine De Luna, another mom who is also a Content Creation & Social Media Consultant, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Make it Blissful and owner of MJ De Luna Events says this about the book, “As a mom of two, I could very much relate with Mommy Loves You Just the Same. Teresa has done a wonderful job of marrying the joys of motherhood with the challenges of parenting, resulting in a balanced storyline that partners and children can relate with easily. I also appreciate how the coloring pages can be incorporated into my children's homeschooling, as a purposeful yet practical activity for them to enjoy.”

80 Years and Counting: Lotus Biscoff's Sweet History

Before Lotus Biscoff biscuits traveled the world and became a favorite in-flight treat, it first made its rounds door to door in the Belgian town of Lembeke on a signature red truck. The Boone brothers, founders of the Lotus Bakeries, opened their first shop in 1932 and came up with a recipe that gives biscuits a unique caramelized flavor and crunchy texture. More than eight decades later, this recipe - which uses only the highest-quality ingredients - remains the same.
In the 1950's, Lotus popularized the pairing of their biscuits with a fresh cup of coffee (hence, "Biscoff", from the combination of the words BIScuit and COFFee). What used to be a hometown specialty soon became the national coffee break tradition. The pairing became a part of the everyday Belgian's routine and was served even in various coffee shops, restaurants, and hostel all across the country.
Lotus Biscoff's caramel flavor and crunchy texture goes so well with coffee that it didn't take long for its popularity to spread to Belgium's neighboring countries. By the 1960's, cafes throughout Europe have also started serving the biscuits with their coffee, and Lotus Biscoff has earned the reputation of being "Europe's Favorite Cookie with Coffee."
In 1985, the United States first got a taste of Lotus Biscoff through in-flight samples. Whether they were flying out for business or coming home from a vacation, exhausted on a long trip or rushing through multiple connections, travelers have found an added comfort and sweetness in their flight in Lotus Biscoff. Europe's favorite biscuit with coffee became America's favorite biscuit with air travel, and three decades later, it is still being served on a majority of domestic airlines in and outside of the US.
The demand and excitement of Lotus Biscoff became worldwide, so it was made available to its fans of Europe, first through catalogues and mail orders in 1990 and then a decade later through Biscoff.com's online store. In the succeeding years, Lotus Biscoff's distribution continued to expand to major retailers across the world.
Lotus Biscoff's product line also evolved to include the Lotus Biscoff Spread-an irresistible alternative to nut butters and chocolate spreads made with original Lotus Biscoff Biscoff biscuits-that first appeared on Belgian television show " De Bedenkers (The Inventors)." Culinary enthusiast Els Scheppers created a recipe that transformed Lotus Biscoff biscuits into a sweet, creamy spread, which earned her a spot in the show's finals, besting 2,000 other Bedenkers. The Boone family contacted and worked with Els to perfect her deliciously innovative creation. Lotus Biscoff Spread ( or Lotus Biscoff Cookie Butter) sold out within three hours of its initial release in Belgium and worldwide culinary phenomenon was born.
Today, Lotus Biscoff continues its mission of bringing a touch of delectable comfort to those enjoying their coffee break, flying miles and miles in the air, and savoring their Lotus Biscoff-infused snack. From its humble beginnings in Lembeke to 80 years and counting of crunchy, caramel magic in every bite, Lotus Biscoff is still making sweet, sweet history.
##
Lotus Biscoff is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Fly Ace Corporation and is available in all leading supermarkets. The biscuits are available in 125 g, 124 g, 156 g, and 250 g packets, while the spreads are available in Crunchy and Smooth variants.

ROTAVIRUS – A Serious Virus You NEED to Know About

“You have no idea how upsetting it can be when your child does suffer and looks at you as if you need to fix this right away. It was very difficult.” – Tracy, a mom in the United States

An estimated 10 Filipino children die each day from rotavirus gastroenteritis.
What is Rotavirus?
Rotavirus is a common stomach virus that’s very easy to get. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, fever. These can lead to dehydration, loss of body water and electrolytes.
Rotavirus can be caught very easily through simple, everyday contact. It can strike without warning. 527,000 children less than 5 years of age were estimated to die of rotavirus disease each year. In the Philippines alone, rotavirus infection accounts for up to 65.7% of acute diarrhea in infants under 2 years of age. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 3,698 Filipino infants die of rotavirus gastroenteritis every year.
Rotavirus infection may present as an ordinary upset of the stomach but it may progress to severe vomiting and diarrhea more than 20 times a day. Symptoms may last up to 9 consecutive days.
Babies with severe rotavirus infection may need to be hospitalized for proper monitoring. At the onset, doctors may not be able to predict how severe the rotavirus infection can progress.
How to protect our babies? Keep a clean home and frequent handwashing will help prevent but are not enough to protect our babies from rotavirus infection.
Hand soaps and other cleaning products cannot kill the virus. Rotavirus infection easily spreads and can survive for weeks in toys and household surfaces.
What can you do? Ask your doctor about oral vaccination that targets 5 of the most common types of rotavirus that cause 95% of rotavirus infections worldwide.
It is recommended that your baby get the first dose before 3 months of age. It’s important not to put it off.
Don’t wait. Reach out and help protect your baby. Now.

Mommy Mundo Expo Find: Caltrate Plus (Calcium + Vitamin D3 + Minerals)

One of the things I liked about attending the Mommy Mundo Expo aside from the talks, were the free consultations. And in this blogpost, I’ll be sharing to you one of my latest finds, the Caltrate Plus from Pfizer.

I don’t hate milk, but I’m not a fan. And guess what? I recently was diagnosed with Thoracic Levoscoliosis and now, through Mommy Mundo Expo Mom, I learned that I have Osteopenia! Add that to my lifetime mild Beta Thalassemia, post Patent Doctus Arteriosis surgery syndrome and the fact that I got an emergency Caesarian operation because Dave’s heartbeat turned to 60 beats a minute. What a life full of pizzazz! Moving on…

Bone Screening Program

Caltrate Plus offered free bone screening in their booth. Bone Screening uses axial transmission technology that measures the speed of sound waves propagating along the bone’s maximal strength axis. For this purpose, bone mineral desity (BMD) will be measured in the wrist to screen for bone changes that can assess and/or predict osteoporosis. The test is considered safe and will be completed in a few minutes with no radiation exposure.

Measurement Report

As explained by Ms. Jane of Caltrate Plus, the operator will put a jelly before screening my distal radius (the side of my left wrist) using ultrasound.

SOS (Speed of Sound) used was 4039[m/sec]
T-Score is the number of standard deviations from the mean of healthy young adults
Z-Score is the number of standard deviations from the mean of age matched population

The green region is the normal range (-1.0 and up). My result? -1.30, which falls under the yellow region, the Osteopenia. The difference of that -0.3 made me closer to Osteoporosis. Good thing, I’m already taking calcium for quite awhile now (from my own initiative because like I said, I don’t hate milk, but I’m not a fan) before having this exam.

The Good Stuff

Caltrate Plus contains Calcium to strengthen bones, Vitamin D3 to help calcium absorption, magnesium necessary for strong teeth and bones, and Zinc, Copper, Manganese for skeletal development. Caltrate Plus can be taken with other multivitamins and is shaped for easier swallowing.

Pfizer Caltrate Plus has no sugar, lactose, salt and preservatives. It’s a combination of calcium, Vitamin D3 and minerals.
Calcium (Calcium Carbonate) 600mg (1499mg), Cholecalciferal (Vitamin D3) 200IU, Copper (Cupric Oxide) 1mg (1.25mg), Magnesium (Magnesium Oxide) 50mg (82.89mg), Manganese (Manganese  Sulfate Monohydrate) 1.8mg (5.54mg) and Zinc (Zinc Oxide) 7.5mg (9.34mg).

Caltrate Plus is for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. This can be taken twice a day with food or as prescribed. I personally take this once a day as I’m taking other multivitamins and maintenance for my pizzazz. What made me positive about this is that, I won a box of Caltrate Plus from the event! Mom can now carry a toddler on her back with a baby on her arms! #mommymundostrongmom

Don’t let Mr Dengue run the Party

We are counting down the last few days of summer, which means we are welcoming the rain again. As much as I love the rain – soothing, calming – we all hate Dengue! What is Dengue?
Dengue is a common virus that can be painful and harmful, according to Dengue Guidelines for Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention, and Control, published in 2009. It is spread by infected mosquitoes and could affect you and your family and friends – basically anyone of age and health. WHO Dengue and Severe Dengue Factsheet make known that an infected mosquito only has to bite you once to pass on the infection. If someone is infected, there is also a chance that a different mosquito could bite them, pick up the virus, and spread dengue to another person. This can happen even if the infected person does not show any symptoms of the disease.
Who is at Risk of Dengue? According to Dengue Surveillance Report of DOH, National Epidemiology Center, Public Health Surveillance and Informatics Division, Dengue is the fastest growing disease carried by mosquitoes in the world and is mainly found in cities and towns, rather than in rural areas. In the Philippines alone, over 113,485 people were suspected to have dengue in 2014.
What is the Impact of Dengue?
Dengue can cause fever, aches, pain, nausea, sickness and/or swollen glands and a rash, said the CDC Traveler’s health June 2015 issue. Infection could also lead to time off work, unexpected healthcare costs and hospitalization. In some cases, dengue can develop into severe dengue, which can be life-threatening: on top of the other symptoms, fluid can build around the lungs, making it difficult to breathe, and severe bleeding and organ damage can happen. Although children and people who have had dengue before are at a higher risk of developing severe dengue, everyone is potentially at risk and you can even get severe dengue at the first infection.
How can we protect ourselves?
There are ways to help reduce the risks of getting infected every day, wherever you are. Inside, sleep underneath mosquito nets, use insecticide and mosquito coils. Outside, wear clothing that covers the skin, and use insect repellants containing DEET or icaridin. You can also help stop mosquitoes breeding outside your home by clearing standing water, covering water storage containers, and managing waste that may collect water. If you hear about people in your area with dengue and you notice any symptoms in yourself or someone else, speak to your doctor immediately.

What to expect from the one-and-only MUNI Market for 2016

When we first started MUNI Market, our goal was to keep growing the community, and continue bringing our message of mindful living to more people around the metro, the country, and the world. And so, this coming May 21, we're conducting a happy experiment with the first ever MUNI Market in Nuvali!

We are bringing our existing community of conscious, purpose-driven merchants and supporters to a new and vibrant location in the South of the Metro, while also discovering and welcoming new folks from the south into our community as well.

Now on its 5th run, the only MUNI Market in 2016 will be popping up at Solenad 3 in Nuvali with our merry band of mindful merchants selling healthy, local and eco-friendly products from food, home to fashion items, some educational workshops and demos, and some musician friends setting the vibe for a fun and relaxed atmosphere, true to MUNI Market fashion.
