2015 marked the 20th year of Alaska Football Cup - a yearly friendly competition for family and children of all ages to celebrate active, healthy lifestyle through the sport of Football.
We've been honored to witness this event for the first time on the third day and we enjoyed the sunshine, the green fields and the action on and around the courts.
The championship was held at the Alabang Country Club in Ayala Alabang Village. The 3-day weekend event was played by 410 teams. 6,150 athletes in as young as six years old, with more than 800 seven-a-side games, in 29 football fields, and officiated by over 168 officials.
Participating school teams and football clubs came from all over the Philippines including Masbate, Baguio, Negros Occidental, Cebu, Davao, Palawan, Legaspi, Laguna, Batangas, Bukidnon, Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, Ilocos, Bicol, Romblon, Davao Sur, Compostela Valley, Quezon, Cavite, Albay, Pangasinan, Bacolod, Iloilo, Mindoro, and of course, Metro Manila.
Alaska has the winning combination of energy and nutrients that helps young athletes engage, learn and win through Football sport. Aside from winning, the sport is teaching the aspiring athletes on values, sportsmanship and the winning attitude in life.
That day, I see Clyde's eyes spark. He was encouraged, and now he is inspired.
To run.
To run a little bit faster.
To aim for the ball.
To hit the ball.
and finally, to reach his goal.
Thank you so much Maam Lariza and Maam Vims for the invitation.
